Rentals available can include both new and refurbished (used) instruments. Refurbished instruments are repaired as necessary to bring back to like new condition, cleaned and sanitized.
Our rental program is focused on students needing instruments for either a school music program or those working with a private teacher. Our most common rentals are band and orchestra instruments.
In addition to the instrument rental, we tailor accessory kits to specific instruments according to teacher preferences for entry level students.
These supply 'kits' are based on Anchorage School District supply lists and include all required items needed to participate in the 6th grade band and orchestra programs.
The supply kits are discounted to encourage parents to get all needed supplies for their students as well as provide a simple one stop shopping experience to save parents time.
The instruments include a case and mouthpiece/bow or other essential item to play that particular instrument.
The accessory kits provide needed items such as greases, rosin, cleaning supplies, books (according to school), music stand, and even a maintenance DVD for some instruments.
Our goal for students is to provide them with everything they need to be successful in learning their instrument when they leave the store with their instrument purchase or rental. The discounted kits help parents affordably support music and save multiple trips for supply items.
Our rentals normally are for the school year or for as long as the student is taking private lessons. These are rent-to-own and allows you to return the instrument with no penalty after a mimimum rental period. The entire rental payment is credited toward purchase of that instrument. Stop in or call the store for details.
Renting and purchasing both have their pros and cons. We invite you to come in to discuss which fits your family, budget and circumstances best. Other options may be available in store only. All instruments, rented or purchased, are checked and set up by our repair technician. They are then fully serviced prior to renting. Previously used instruments are also cleaned and sanitized in this process.
Renting an instrument offers value for the parent who is unsure of their students commitment to a particular musical instrument. On Rent to Own contracts, returning the instrument cancels the contract with no obligation to pay off.
Purchasing an instrument at the discounted back to school price is a great value. For parents who like the convenience of no monthly payments and a lower overall price or who may have other students wanting to play, this is an excellent option.
Repair contracts are available with every instruments that we rent. For a few dollars a month most issues are covered that could occur over the course of the rental contract. We highly recommend these contracts as they also cover half of the remaining balance on the instrument in cases of theft or severe damage. Repair contract payments are not credited to the purchase price. Check with a sales associate for full details.
All new instruments are checked for playing condition and set up (as needed) for our climate prior to rental or sale.
Our used instrument prices are based on cosmetic value. All used instruments are checked, cleaned and repaired to playing condition.
Price of our instruments depends on what is currently in stock. We cannot guarantee a specific price.
All instruments, new and used, rented or purchased, are checked and set up by our repair technician. Used instruments are then fully serviced, sanitized and cleaned. Both new and used instruments are discounted when purchased.
New instruments appeal to many just as some prefer a new car to a previously owned vehicle. They are a little more costly, however, when well maintained, they require less repair for the first year.
Used instruments offer a tremendous value for many parents. Once an instrument has been rented, it is 'used'. Often you cannot tell it has been previously rented until you look closely at the case or instrument. As cosmetics are more noticeable, the price goes down and the value goes up. All previously owned instruments are kept in good playing condition and are serviced and cleaned prior to being offered for rent or sale.
You can pay off your instrument early at any point in your contract instead of making monthly payments. New contracts get special early pay off discounts in the first 60 days. After 60 days, we offer discounts on your remaining balance. PFD and tax rebate are popular early payoff times.
Orchestra instruments are not a one size fits all like band instruments. They come in different sizes. Our staff will measure you for the correct size before renting an instrument. Some teachers also size their students.
Because students grow at different rates, there is no way to know when when you will grow into the next size. We recommend stopping in every few months for students in 6th and 7th grades to be checked. Other indicators would be a change in height and/or arm length. A correctly sized instrument will insure that you are playing comfortably and in tune.
If you need a larger instrument, bring in your old instrument if it is still on rental. We will give you credit for a portion of your rental paid on the smaller size and apply to the new size for the same instrument. You want to return your old instrument and rent the new one in the same month to insure that your rental credit will transfer over to the new one. Rental credit cannot be transferred to a different instrument.
Returning your rented instrument is easy. To avoid the whole month rental fee, return your instrument on, or before, the last day we are open before the first. Monthly rental fees are not prorated. Our computer system automatically charges the monthly rental fee on the 1st of each month.
Our staff will make sure your account is up to date and inspect your instrument to insure that it is in good condition, with no damage, and all parts and pieces are there. See rental – care for additional information.
Any stickers and/or markings and residue should be removed
from both the instrument and case. Call us for information on how to remove and how to protect instrument during removal. A cleaning fee will be charged for instruments and cases that require extra staff time to clean.
